Ali Shihabi is a Saudi citizen and a former banker. He founded the Rasmala Investment Bank in 1999 and served as its chairman until 2011. Prior to that, he was chairman of the Board Management Committee of Saudi Hollandi Bank for over ten years. A graduate of Princeton University with a bachelor's degree in political science, he earned his MBA at Harvard Business School. He sits on the Executive Committee of the Saudi British Chamber of Commerce and has served as a member of the advisory board of the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University. The Saudi Kingdom is Ali Shihabi's second book. His first was a work of political fiction called Arabian War Games published in 2012.
